Day 1 - Disappointment

Hi everyone! Welcome to the first post of this blog, which I should probably start by explaining that the idea behind it was to keep a diary of my Round-The-World trip, due to start today and finish either in about twelve months’ time or when I ran out of money, whichever came first. In a preview of things to come, I will kick things off by disappointing you, as this will no longer be the case.

To cut a long story short, while I was fairly late on the planning stages for this trip I woke up with a horse’s head next to me - an offer I couldn’t refuse which will bring me back to the UK by early November, leaving me just enough time to make it to India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Japan and back to London via Vietnam (again). So this blog will, for now, be about this shortened trip, although the original idea is still very much present in my stubborn mind, so fingers crossed it will serve its purpose one day.

With that out of the way, I am currently sitting on the last row of an A380 on the way to Delhi, stuck between the reclined chair of the gentleman in front of me and my own non-reclinable chair, next to a lady and her three-year old son, who has thankfully been slightly less hyperactive than the first hour of flight had me fearing. I have heard India can be a bit of a shock for an European, so maybe this is just Lufthansa’s way of softening the landing… I then look forward to arriving in Delhi after midnight, somehow getting a cab to drive me for an hour to the hostel and then hopefully managing to sleep for a bit before Ben arrives in the morning. You will probably realise sooner rather than later that I tend to make my travel plans as unpleasant as I possibly can, and this is no exception!

That’s about it for now, I don’t have much more to write about at this point but hopefully that will change once I am in a de-pressurised environment.

Cheers,
J-Wowww
